SchoolOne is an IT services company specializing in serving clients in primary and secondary education. We serve the public and private sectors, and offer a variety of services including Software Development, Hosting services, IT Project Management, and IT Infrastructure support and Operations.

Our mission is to support the growing technology needs of school stakeholders—students, faculty, boards, administrators, and the parent community—to have the information and tools they need to better educate and manage the learning process and the important business of operating schools.

History page:
In 1999 the idea for SchoolOne grew out of the challenges encountered by one of the founders, Dan McDermott, during his daughter's first year in high school. Poor grades resulted in the need for weekly progress reports to be delivered home. It became difficult for him to get this information quickly and reliably. Out of this experience, Dan visioned the original concept for SchoolOne, to create a web-based interface to better communicate from school to home. At that time, parents used the Internet to get news, weather, financial data, and all sorts of other information. Yet for their most precious asset, their children, information was only available sporadically during a quarter in hard copy from schools. With the start-up expertise of co-founders Micki Tubbs and Michelle Tomallo, SchoolOne began as a result of this search for an easier, more immediate way of getting information about a student.

The work did not stop with SchoolOne's parent-to-teacher communications system. Under the leadership of Micki and Michelle, SchoolOne has broadened its scope of services to respond to the evolving needs of the education market and continued to offer innovative solutions to a broad range of needs for both the public and private K-12 market. Today, SchoolOne has over 100 employees and offers specialized Application Development, Project Management, and IT Operations services for a client base including large public districts, charter schools, and distance learning academies in Ohio and several other states.

What We Do page:
SchoolOne specializes in providing information technology services to the public and private K-12 education markets. We provide a suite of software products designed to meet the operational and educational needs of our clients. We also provide application development services for custom software and system integrations, IT project management, and complete IT infrastructure and operational support. SchoolOne developed and supports the application and systems architecture of White Hat Management Ohio’s largest education-management and school-operation services provider and the 3rd largest in the United States.

Using industry-standard methodologies, SchoolOne borrows IT best practices from the business sector and applies them to the unique needs of the K-12 market. A client-centric, iterative software development methodology is used, supplemented by a disciplined Quality Assurance group, to ensure that the systems meet or exceed the clients’ expectations. Our Operations areas support a variety of system platforms including Windows and Novell networking, CISCO networking and telephony infrastructures, and Exchange and Groupwise messaging systems.

We work with industry leaders to support the needs of our clients by providing integration from our suite of tools to their learning curriculum and other academic software services.
